LOCATING RELIC TREES IN ISRAEL USING MULTIDISCIPLINARY MAPPING TECHNOLOGIES

To conduct our research, we are documenting and analyzing the distribution of heritage horticulture installations and the age-old trees they once contained. Part of this process includes the creation of analytical maps that juxtapose past farming activities with present conditions. The research is taking place across varying geographic landscapes and incorporates a slew of natural and human components that are present in the field.

The maps we are making are informed from numerous factors including interrelated archaeological and historical elements and emerging data that we uncover during our fieldwork that stem from geographical, biological, and ethnographic related discoveries. Ultimately, we aim to construct sets of maps that present this newfound knowledge via interactive platforms that will be used both for continued applied research and public education forums. The following sampling depicts some of the raw data that we have collected and began to map out and will be subject to further analysis.
